10 Ways Dubai Brands Are Building Distinctive Identities in an AI-Content Era

Refinance Loans with Bad Credit: What Borrowers Should Know

Many marketing teams in Dubai now use similar AI tools. Unlocking the UAE’s AI Potential 2026, a survey-based report from AWS and the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office, puts AI adoption among UAE businesses at 72%, up from 53% the year before.

That helps speed and cost, but not identity. In a 2024 writing experiment published in Science Advances, Anil Doshi and Oliver Hauser found that AI-generated ideas made individual short stories more creative but the stories as a group more alike. Brands prompting similar models with similar briefs risk the same drift towards the category average, which is hard to remember.

Here are 10 practices that help Dubai brands stay recognisable while still benefiting from AI.

  1. Decide the positioning before AI writes anything

AI is good at producing options. It can’t decide who you serve, what you refuse to be, or why a buyer should choose you over a competitor. That takes customer insight and commercial judgement.

Write the positioning on one page first: audience, problem, promise, proof. Then let AI generate variations against it. Reverse the order and the tool quietly sets your strategy for you.

  1. Write brand rules your AI tools can follow

Most brand guidelines were written for designers, not prompts. Convert yours into something an AI tool can follow: approved vocabulary, banned words, sentence length, on-brand and off-brand example lines, and image rules. Store it as a shared prompt library, and keep a human review step before anything goes live.

Professor Stoyan Stoyanov of Heriot-Watt University Dubai has argued for governing AI with distinctiveness as an explicit constraint rather than restricting its use.

  1. Build assets AI can’t easily copy

Jenni Romaniuk’s work at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute treats distinctive brand assets as memory cues that help buyers recognise a brand quickly. These can be a shape, a character, a sound, a colour pairing or a recurring line. They only work if they’re unique to you and used consistently, and generic AI imagery can undermine both.

Choose two or three, have people design them, and use them everywhere. Ownership matters too: logos are mainly protected through trademark registration, but UAE law firms note that copyright rests on human authorship, so wholly AI-generated elements may be harder to protect. The position isn’t settled, so take IP advice first.

  1. Treat Arabic as a voice, not a translation

A brand that sounds sharp in English and stiff in Arabic effectively has two identities. Transcreation means rewriting the idea for Arabic readers rather than converting the words, and it keeps tone, humour and formality intact.

Google’s AI Mode has been available in Arabic since October 2025, so buyers can now get AI-written answers about your category in Arabic. If your Arabic content is thin, those answers may lean on other people’s descriptions of you.

  1. Use regulation as a reason to be specific

The Dubai Health Authority’s Standards for Medical Advertisement Content on Social Media rule out claims such as “the best”, “the only”, “100%” and “immediate results”. Clinics can’t stand out with superlatives, and a generic AI caption can’t be relied on to follow those rules. A DHA content checklist for clinic social media teams can turn them into a routine review step.

That leaves a better foundation anyway: credentials, accreditations, clear service facts and a steady tone. In regulated categories, specificity becomes the identity.

  1. Put real people at the front

AI can generate a face. It can’t generate a track record. Founders, doctors, school principals, property advisors and engineers are assets competitors can’t copy.

A consultant explaining who a treatment isn’t right for, or a principal walking parents through admissions, builds trust that stock-style visuals tend not to.

  1. Work with licensed creators who fit your brand

The UAE Media Council introduced the Advertiser Permit in 2025, and it is now required for anyone publishing promotional content on social media. The Council has urged companies to work only with licensed creators, so check that first.

Then brief creators on your tone and brand assets, not just a product and a hashtag. A creator who sounds like your brand strengthens it. One who doesn’t simply rents you an audience for a day.

  1. Shape how AI search describes you

AI Overviews reached UAE search results in May 2025, and AI Mode followed in English that August. Buyers can now meet a summary of your brand before they see your website.

Generative engine optimisation (GEO) means making that summary accurate. In practice, that covers:

  • consistent descriptions across your site, profiles and directories
  • clear service pages
  • structured data
  • coverage in credible publications

Every quarter, ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode about your category and record what they say about you.

  1. Own a format, not just a feed

AI makes volume cheap, so volume no longer signals much. A recurring format does. Think of a monthly market note from a brokerage, a weekly “ask the doctor” clip, or a founder unpacking one customer problem at a time.

Repeated formats help people recognise you before they see the logo.

  1. Measure distinctiveness in commercial terms

Distinctiveness should show up in data you already collect: branded search volume, direct traffic and branded click-through rates. Also watch how cost per lead and customer acquisition cost move as recognition grows. If output rises while branded demand stays flat, the content may not be building the brand.

Brand and performance teams need to share one dashboard. Any digital marketing agency in Dubai you work with should be able to link creative decisions to lead quality, not just reach.

What to ask before hiring outside help

A portfolio won’t show whether an identity will hold up once your team produces content at AI speed. If you’re speaking to a branding agency in Dubai, ask:

  • How do you use AI, and where do you deliberately avoid it?
  • Can we see brand rules written for AI tools?
  • Who writes or reviews our Arabic?
  • How do you check DHA or Media Council compliance for our sector?
  • Which numbers will you report six months in?

FAQs

How can a Dubai brand stay distinctive when everyone uses AI?

Keep positioning, signature brand assets and Arabic voice human-led. Let AI produce and adapt content within written brand rules, with human review. Then stay specific through compliant claims, real experts, recurring content formats and regular checks on how AI search describes you.

Can we use AI to design our logo?

Use it to explore directions, then have a designer create the final mark and register it as a trademark. Purely AI-generated elements may be harder to protect under UAE copyright law, and the position isn’t settled.

How do we know if our brand is becoming more distinctive?

Set a baseline first, then track branded search volume, direct traffic, branded click-through rates and cost per lead each quarter. There’s no fixed timeline; it depends on your category, budget and starting point, so look for a sustained trend rather than a one-month jump.
